Colorful Flavors of Suman Festival

Suman Festival Dance Competition 2018
Clarin, Misamis Occidental

February 21, 2018 - "Uswag Clarin!"- It is the core value means "advance or progress" that guided the small town of Clarin toward its growth and development. This year's revelry is as colorful as their sumptuous variety of flavors served in their house of "suman". In just a decade of operations, it generated  millions of pesos of revenues helping local makers of the product to earn lucratively and lifting the image of the town culturally and economically. From simple hut to edifying house of suman proved its worth putting the town as the Suman Capital of the Province of Misamis Occidental.

I happened to feature in my blog page the Suman Festival on their first street dance competition way back year 2014 (click link: Suman Festival Street Dance 2014). Through the years, I observed a lot of changes yet unto the next level of festivity. Clustered yet more colorful and jubilant heralding its blissful abundance. Though the costume designs were more improved and modernly inspired, but the sole essence of the merriment remained quintessentially authentic.

The bevy of festival queens on their impressively colorful sized and patterned costumes shimmers the streets  and burgs  of the town showcased their symbolic ritual dances accompanied by her followers and subjects in rigodon. The rich and vibrant colors of intricate regalia outfit adding the iridescent beauties, which brought more exuberance to the festival contemplates onto the different flavors of 'suman" such as mango, jack-fruit, "ube" and many more.

The "Suman" products of Clarin has now become the symbol of pride, and now infamous among the passing local travelers along the national road of Ozamiz to Oroquieta. Their House of Suman serves more than what they offer. Plenty of food and snack of different varieties of your choice either for munching while in a long travel or for "pasalubong" (goodies) for your friends and love ones.

Come and Visit the Suman Capital of the Province!
